Media Of Communication Part 1
Media Of Communication
Communication
Channel:-Medium of
communication can broadly categorized into two types:-
1.Guided Media: - Guided media are
those, which provide a physical connection from one device to another device.
Like:-(a)Ethernet
Cable: - Ethernet is a data link technology used in local Area network. Such
cable can transmit data speed of 100-1000 mbps.
.Ethernet Cable was invented by an
electrical Engineer of U.S. named Robert Metcalf.
.Ethernet Cable connected to Ethernet
port with the help of “RJ45” socket.
Ethernet Cable can be categorized into:-
1.Straight
through Ethernet Cable:- It is used to connect different devices.
Like:- Computer to hub
Computer to switch
Computer to router
It has same order of
color form left to right.
2.Ethernet
Crossover Cable:- It is used to connect same device.
Like:- computer to
computer
Router to router
Hub to hub
In the cable inside the
main covering 1st with 3rd and 2nd with 6th
wire crossed from left
(b)Co-axial Cable:- It acts as an
efficient electrical transmission media. It consist of a single line of
conductor surrounded by insulator layer and a conductive shield over it.
- It can transmit upto 100 mbps.
- It is used by the Cable T.V. operator.
(c)Fiber optics:- Fiber optic cable is
made fine stands of silicon glass fiber and is coated with a refractive
surface. Data are transferred through electromagnetic waves.
- It can support over 30,000 telephone lines at a time. Transmission rate upto 10Gbps.
