HARDWARE COMPONENT OF A CPU
1.MotherBoard: Motherboard is the main circuit board of a computer that lies in the CPU to which all the hardware parts are connected. It is in the form of a large multilayered printed circuit which contains connector for attaching addition devices.
        Typically motherboard contains slot for processor, BIOS, RAM, ROM chip, CMOS setup, etc. The chips that are attached on the motherboard are known as the ‘Motherboard Chipset’.
2.SMPS(Switch Mode Power Supply)
SMPS is an electrical regulator component that receives electricity from the main power supply and then supplies appropriate power to the other components of computer.It takes the required amount of electricity from mains or UPS and converts the AC current into DC current with required voltage.
3 Processor:
It is the most important component of a computer system. It does all calculations and comparisons in a rapid speed. Its speed is measured in higher units of hertz(Hz). It is often called the CPU. Some processors are: Pentium series, Dual Core, Core 2 Duo, IBM Cyrix, Core-i3,Core- i5 etc.

4 PORT:
Computer port is an interface between the computer and peripheral devices like mouse, keyboard, printer etc.
A computer port is also called as a Communication port as it facilitates communication between computer and its peripheral device. Generally a desktop computer’s motherboard consists of USB ports, serial ports, serial port, parallel port etc.
5 CARDS
Cards are the devices that enable the user to configure or customize a computer to perform specific tasks or to enhance its performance. Ex- TV tuner, Graphics card.
Such cards are attached to motherboard’s PCI (Peripherals Connecting Interface) slots.
